This is the unweighted counterpart to 71747 — a disposable, 3" polyethylene bailer for large-diameter monitoring wells, without the added weight.

What it is:

• A 3" diameter × 36" long polyethylene (poly) tube with a bottom check valve
• Dis = disposable (single-use, no decon required)
• UW = unweighted

When to choose unweighted (71749) over weighted (71747):

• Shallower wells where gravity alone is sufficient to sink the bailer
• Situations where the added weight could disturb fine-grained sediment at the bottom of the well and introduce turbidity into the sample
• Some sampling protocols specify unweighted bailers to minimize well disturbance
